“Our US tiller manufacturer, Rudder Craft, has been our partner since 2010 when the former owner mentored our fledgling business,” said WaveFront owner Pete Crawford. “Located in Idaho, Rudder Craft is a well-run, small manufacturer that makes everything by hand in its own workshop. Their tillers are beautiful, and we think they are a perfect companion for the TillerClutch.”
All seven of the different tillers now offered by WaveFront are made from strong African mahogany and white ash. They are created in the timeless way of stacking thin strips of the special hardwoods in alternating colors, permanently bonding them together, and forming and carving them into graceful sweeping shapes.
Offering a selection of tillers to address the needs of most tiller-steered sailboats, these hand-crafted laminated tillers come in a range of finishes from natural unfinished to a premium epoxy-and-varnish finish for a protective, deep luster. The price starts at $139 and varies based on the kind of finish chosen. All tillers come with a three-year limited warranty.
